Sorry for the late reply, thanks so much for all the help everyone, you've given me plenty to work on. To answer your question Jacqueline - Olive's Grandmother Elizabeth on 28th January 1913 & her Grandfather George died 25th March 1920. So Olive would have been about ten when she lost her Grandma.

The Leicester marriages look hopeful, one of her Aunt's settled there, maybe she went to live with her? Thanks again, I really appreciate the help.

**AnnCardiff - my Great Uncle Ozhare Johnson married Violet Hilda Bailey in Uffington (Berkshire at that time.) She was the daughter of Henry Bailey & Belinda Breakspear - any connection to you?

When did the grandparents die?

Full DOB is not on the death index until late 1969, nor is the full second name on the index between 1911 and 1969

On the 1901 Canadian census, people were asked their d.o.b. Now, the actual birth records for 4 of the 7 existing provinces are online, as well as an index for part of The Territories. So I've had a fair degree of comparing stated d.o.b's with actual d.o.b's. I would say it's quite unusual for folk to lie abt their b'day, but it's not too unusual for folk to alter their y.o.b by a year or two.

Anyways, I looked for Olive May's with 14/5/1903 +/- 5y stated on their d.index, and looked for matching Olive M Wilinson's in the m.index. I just found:

Marriages Jun 1920 (>99%)
Smith Alfred E Wilkinson Leicester 7a 953
Wilkinson Olive M Smith Leicester 7a 953

Deaths Sep 1982 (REFORMATTED)
Smith Olive 14 MY 1899 Luton 9 0445

Four y out is a bit more than I'm comfortable with, but if you get nowt else, then maybe you can check her out some.

*** EDIT
Made a typo in transcribing the 1982q3 death - I should have typed:

Deaths Sep 1982 (REFORMATTED)
Smith Olive May 14 MY 1899 Luton 9 0445

Hi all, I wonder if anyone could help me please. I've been searching for this lady for ages & am running out of ideas. Olive May Wilkinson, born 14th May 1903 at Fen Ends, Cowbit Road in Spalding Lincolnshire, the daughter of Florence Wilkinson, singe lady and at the time a domestic servant, the baby was born at her parent's home. I have the birth certificate and also Olive's baptism, which took place on 21st July 1903 at St. Mary & St. Nicholas parish church in Spalding, neither records show the Father's name unfortunately. Olive is on the 1911 census living with her maternal grandparents, George & Elizabeth Wilkinson, my Great Grandparents. By then they had moved from Spalding to Gosberton. Olive's mother Florence had married George Frederick Betts in 1909, so Olive must have stayed with her grandparents after her mother's marriage. They went on to have seven children. I am in touch with one of Florence & George's granddaughters, she has no knowledge of Olive, nor do any of the rest of the family. I have been through the marriage records using various spellings etc. All to no avail, also death records. I've searched deaths of Olive Mays born on the same day, again no luck so far., the same with immigration & travel records.
Any ideas would be very welcome, many thanks.
