Find Ancestors

In particular I am trying to find the family of Agnas b. 1790's, her married surname was Pattinson. She had a son Samuel.

It is beginning to look as if Agnas was not married when she had Samuel. I am going to look up the name of Robinson in case that was her maiden name. Thanks for all the replies. I shall be back!

There's also a marriage in 1828 to a William Cunningham but this is not the correct Agnes as she was born c1804.

Thanks,but I think her married name was Pattinson because her husband was Pattinson. Or else she didn't marry.

She may not have been married when she had Samuel, but she could have married later, after Samuel's birth.

Right, so where can I find the info which proves Samuel was illegitimate and which is the correct data for Agnas?

I don't think there is any need to snap. I am just trying to get everything straight in my head, which is not as young as it was! Thank you for your help.

I think it's confusing as on your earlier thread you were given the baptisms below as possible siblings for Samuel. However, these have William listed as their father- I suppose it's possible that William as the father is fictional, or, that the transcription of Samuel's record is incorrect- but without seeing the original baptism record for Samuel we can only assume that he is illegitimate:

I'm not sure who would hold copies of the original baptisms- normally they can be viewed at Central Libraries who will often send out photocopies for a small charge, but as I don't really know the Lake District area I don't know where that would be. Perhaps somebody else can suggest who you can contact.

Thanks Gritty. It is all a bit confusing. It is possible that Samuel was illegitimate, its beginning to look more like it. Where do I get confirmation online? Because it is such a long while ago the records may have been destroyed? I appreciate your help. Ar you replying becuse you may be a relative?

Most of us also have subscriptions to either Ancestry.com or Findmypast.co.uk, but I've had a look at both and they don't have the original documents either.
