I'm struggling to find them on FMP in 1851 yet Michael and Hannah are there in the 1861 census.

I can't find them either but I'm wondering about this couple (not Michael) but the image is a printed sheet and there seems to be other mistakes on it i.e. the address so could be worth checking:-

1851 England, Wales & Scotland Census Transcription
Lo Yard Street, Manchester, Lancashire, England

First name(s) Last name Relationship Marital status Gender Age Birth year Occupation Birth place

Thomas Dolan Head Married Male 25 1826 Beerhouse Ireland
Jane Dolan Wife Married Female 26 1825 - Manchester, Lancashire, England
Ellen Dolan Dau Unmarried Female 4 1847 - Manchester, Lancashire, England
John Norton Lodger Unmarried Male 36 1815 Town's Laborer Anglesey, Wales
Eliza Norbury Lodger Unmarried Female 44 1807 Infirmary Nurse Kent, England
Edward Welsh Lodger Married Male 27 1824 Carver Ireland<<<<<<<<<<<
Hanh Welsh Wife Married Female 24 1827 Reeler Manchester, Lancashire, England<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Despite the address given it is actually Lloyd Street.

Could the marital status and ages of Edward and Hannah have been mis-transcribed? Perhaps Michael was away from home or back in Ireland?

I realised that the details were wrong Cane - it's just the address was close to where they lived in 1861 and there seemed to be other mistakes on the transcription so I thought it was worth looking at, but now Andrew has come up with a better bet for you.
