Find Ancestors

Hi,

I have got a large bag, canvas, army bag I think, with the name E F OLDFIELD on it with FX 675382.
Can anyone help us with any ideas?????
I have tried looking for info re the number but can't find anything.

My husband found it in the shed of the house we have just moved into.

You could try the local library and look up your address on electoral rolls to see if there was ever anyone living there called Oldfield?

That should keep you busy for a while ;-)

Probably an old Royal Navy Service No. (Fleet Air Arm)

Googled Royal Navy service numbers beginning with FX (it rang a bell with me), and the following site came up amongst others

On the other hand, when we wrote to him, it was as LFX 77113

So, there it is!

I have been looking on Ancestry this morning, I did find a list, 1949 electoral register in Finchley with the names Eric Francis Oldfield on it with other Oldfields, one being Douglas F, and Mavis M.
