She had the wrong father and has asked me to help.

Florence senior died in 1911 and George married Rose Landon in 1912.

On both marriage certs (seen online) his father is down as Charles Cox a Glass Silverer and on the second marriage Charles is down as deceased.

I looked up Georges millitary papers and this confirms this and that his mother was Emily.

I can find no marriage for this couple that really fits but there is a 2 census with them on it and also a nephew on one who is a George Welson which could be Wilson of about the right age.

No sign of George Cox on either of those census but I'm wondering if he could be George E Welson

No it seems Wendy deleted it.

Claire thats what I noticed but am wondering if the nephew is in fact George who has taken the name of Cox?? as he is about the same age.

Can't find a marriage for Charles Cox to Emily either. Thought we had as on the 1901 census they both have an initial M for a second name but that was in 1893 and the occupation dos'nt fit.

Just looking again at his papers and he is down as George E Cox. The George on the census is George E Welson.

If this is the right marriage, and I am begining to think it is then who were the real parents of George E Welson c1886?

Mel, Welson is actually quite clear Wilson on the image. I wonder if Wilson was a stepfather's name and that George reverted to his Mum's maiden surname when he became an adult.

Perhaps it may be necessary to work forward from the sisters of Charles Mason Cox.

The more I think about it if Charles and Emily brought up George E Wilson/Welson I guess we will never know who his real parents were.
