Looking for death of Charles b 1852 Stepney, Middlesex m 1872 Emma Ricketts. Last known record 1891 census living in Lismore Road, St Pancras, London with Emma and family. Emma declares herself a widow in 1901 census. Any help appreciated.

because his wife says she is a widow on the 1901 Census does not mean that she really was a widow


It was a convenient fabrication when a marriage had broken down



hence I would extend your search for his death to ca 1955 ................. I know, he would then have been over 100, but that covers all eventualities :-)

a tree on ancestry has his death as 1910, age 58 ................. no documentation



???? just as much of a guess as those who have him dying "about 1899" ????????

Many thanks for your responses everyone. Have looked at variants of name and not found anything that could be him. Yes I have the info regarding his criminal activities but thank you for telling me. Also thought that his wife might have disowned him but marriage certificates for his children from 1898 onwards all state father deceased. Again this could be a cover up. Thanks again folks.
