Yes Gritty We are all related. There's Christopher Brewer n H.M.S. Minotaur 1810. George Brewer St. Clair 1921 one on H.M.S. Fifeshire 1940 one on S.S .Empire Express 1940. and the one on Scapa flow 1925 I can't find. This info comes from Robert Brewer b. 1953 Hull who says its his granddad. Could be his mothers side surname Rhodes.

George, I can't see a Brewer mentioned in any of the articles. One article states FEARED LOSS OF 13 LIVES, it states that 7 of them were married men.

Did his son John Richard (Jack) Brewer also die aboard a missing trawler in Hull in 1940? Just spotted an article on it (with a photo of John Richard Brewer)- maybe coincidence, but let me know if it's of interest and I'll send it

SCAPA FLOW MYSTERY
Owners Still Paying Men's Relatives

There is still now news of the Hull Trawler, Scapa Flow, which, as is well known, is considerably overdue upon an Iceland voyage.
Although hopes of her return have not been abandoned, it is feared she has encountered a heavy gale on her homeward bound journey, or has struck rocks to the north of Scotland.
The owners, the Jutland Almalgamated Trawlers Ltd, have not yet given up hope, and payments were still being made to the crew's relatives today.
The Scapa Flow which was formerly called the 'Peary', was a tonnage of 289 gross and 115 net, She was built in 1913 by Messrs Cochrane and Sons Ltd. of Selby, and was classed A1.
