Gritty - I suspected that, but the title specifically said "completed years the *present* marriage has lasted".

Thanks both for all your help. I'm chuffed, and I know my Dad will be too :)

Matthew- I think on the 1911 Ellen Gertrude was just stating the date she first married (in 1908)

Thanks Gritty and Margee.

I believe that's the census record I found previously, but the place of birth made me discard it.

I just found the census record and also noticed the marriage down as 3 years, which contradicts the earlier marriage certificate.

Very curious as to why they don't match?

David is a stepson. Curious that Fred & Gertrude have been married 3 years, 1 child still living! Why is David a Morgan and a stepchild?

Edit: Sorry, Gritty, didn't notice you'd already posted this. I didn't refresh the page.
It definitely states born US of America but British by parentage.

MatMorrisParker Report 22 Mar 2015 15:42

Was she really American? That cropped up somewhere previously and I discarded it as it didn't match anything else.

Do you by any chance have a copy of the census of this at all please?

I have found a census in 1901 for Tredegar, a neighbouring valley. It shows 'Ellen Davies' age 11 and born in Tredegar, and her father 'Thomas Davies' age 42. However, would be interested to see your copy (if possible) before heading down the wrong route!

** Edit **
Your record is correct. My grandfather's birth certificate shows he was born at 29 Railway Street, Llanhilleth!

Matthew- not sure where your other info has come from, but thought this would be more likely to be Ellen's first marriage (full details not available- but first hubby could have been David James Morgan):

MatMorrisParker Report 22 Mar 2015 14:49

Hi there,

This may be a long shot, but I'm struggling with 2 relations. I'm looking for help trying to find out information on my great grandfather, Frederick Charles Parker, born c.1890 (we believe), and his wife Ellen Gertrude Davies, born 1890-1891. Both are believed to have been born in Monmouthshire.

Ellen Gertrude Davies married a Thomas Morgan who I have no information on, but she remarried Fred later on at St Illtyd's church in Brynithel, Wales (would have come under Monmouthshire).

Ellen and Fred has several children, only one I have information on is Raymond, my grandfather, born 1921.

Any help appreciated.

Many Thanks
Mathew
