Hi Jacqueline, have had family staying for awhile. Not lost interest....I intend to 'catch up' when I have minutes to myself. ??. Just glancing over info I gave. Tug 'Wilson" my mistake.....should have said ILIFFE. I come from a naval family where In the navy Wilsons were nicknamed Tug. My sis in law said she remembered her uncle (an ILIFFE) being called Tug and she thought she remembered someone saying when she was young that he was murdered. (I suppose Tug Wilson must have been on my mind in error when I sent text).

This MAY be Sarah's father, but you need the 1864 marriage for confirmation

Clear your mind of thoughts about Edmund Cleveland............for the time being at least.

He isn't the direct line...he moved quite early in his life to Nottinghamshire

Sarah Wells. Shopkeeper, Greengrocer is correct., married to William Wells.
They were definitely my husbands grandparents and had a shop trading as S.Wells.
My husband's father was Stanley Wells, b approx 1908, his elder brother was Sydney Wells, shown above.

William & Sarah ILIFFE were my husbands paternal grandparents. I think a lot of my original information came from people who contacted me years ago through either the original Friends Reunited or Genes Connected sites saying they thought they could be related and I printed off their information. What we do know from my husbands older sister is the Iliffe's had either a scrapyard, metal yard or breakers yard in Hinckley. She (now in her 80's) seems to remember an Uncle 'Tug' Wilson (Sarah's brother, obviously a nickname) who she thinks was killed/murdered?? Isadly, it haven't been able to find out anything about this. There seems to be a lot of Iliffe's in the Hinckley area.
