evangeline Report 3 May 2015 08:28

unfortunately i don't have any other information. The court records confirm it is the same man, it's possible he lied about his fathers real name for one of the marriages or maybe his father was Jeremiah Timothy or vise versa. I have copies of both marriage certificatesand his army records which confirm his date/place of birth and his mother Katherine as next of kin. Sorry i couldn't be of more help

Gee

Gee Report 2 May 2015 19:07

If these marriages show two different fathers, I should think that they are two different 'Patrick's'

Elizabeth McCabe
Marriage: Dec 1919 - Cork

Sarah Brennan
Jun 1923 - Dublin South

Do you know who his siblings were and where did Patrick die?

evangeline

evangeline Report 2 May 2015 13:31

On Patricks army records, it states his D.O.B/Place as 25/07/1899 Macroom Co Cork. Next of kin is his mother Katherine living in Glenflesk Co Kerry, since my last post i have found out that Patrick was a bigamist. His first marriage was on June 7th 1919 to an Elizabeth McGabe and his bigamist marriage was to a Sarah Brennan on 12th May 1923 Dublin. On the first marriage certificate he lists his father as Timothy O'Donoghue farmer deceased, on his second marriage certificate he lists his father as Jeremiah O'Donoghue deceased. I have a copy of the court report and it is definitely the same man, I am trying to find a copy of Patricks birth certificate.

This could well be Patrick's family..1901.....check out same but ODonoghue 1911

Patrick stated his address as Genflesk ...(Glen Flesk.)..you wont pick that upon the Census but it does show Glen..only 1 family living there...Glen/Glen Flesk is in the area of the above Census... You can also bring up Flesk plenty O'Donoghues but whole area is O'Donoghue territory going back since forever.

The family are still there 1911...put in Annagh Beg. Brewsterfield only you will know if the family eg brothers etc are you family.

Why don't you contact St Agatha's RC Church Glenflesk the PP may be able to help.

This is Gins' hit:

If you go to the Form N image (form A2 in 1911), you'll see the poor-law union of Macroom.
I know in England, the first rego districts followed the poor-law union boundaries.
I think (but don't know) that the same practice was followed in Ireland.

Potty Report 13 Mar 2015 14:50

Who did he marry? Have you found his marriage? The marriage cert should name his father and give his father's occupation. As there are so many with the same name, how sure are you that the one in the 1922 is the correct one?

evangeline

evangeline Report 13 Mar 2015 13:56

Thank you for your replies, unfortunately i don't have his birth certificate as we're not sure of his exact date of birth and there are so many Patrick O'Donoghues around, on the census he's put his age as 23 so am assuming he was born c1899

His mother may not have been married..............

have you got your grandfather's marriage cert?

evangeline

evangeline Report 13 Mar 2015 11:29

My grandfather Patrick O'Donoghue is listed in the above census aged 23 years old living in Killarney Co Kerry Ireland. This may not be his place of birth. Next of kin lists his mother as Katherine O'Donoghue. Iam assuming his father is dead.
I have tried to find them on the 1901/11 irish census but had no luck, any suggestions about other web sites where i might try to find this information
