Maybe each one thought they had to state the total rooms in the house and not the ones they actually occupied

Check the enumerators summary book, i.e.:
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=1708
instead of::
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=2352

You can easily check the enumerators route - maybe Pleasant Valley Road was misidentified as Pleasant Grove Road, or whatever.

def. only 4 rooms in total - not 4 rooms each -because I lived there! they are tiny 2 up 2 down cottages.but as Matilda and her daughter have no income according to the census - I'm assuming they would not have a whole cottage - so maybe had a room downstairs or something -and that each family group filled in a form - strange though. thanks
yes I noticed that one says 8 on front and 14 inside ! but I 'know' that family lived at 8 -because were still there in 1930's when my grandparents lived opposite!

maybe as you say human error -none of us are perfect :-)

Possibly the houses were divided - the number of rooms is that which a particular household inhabited, not the total number in the building. I have seen more than two households at the same address.

It is odd, though, that the forms are not in sequence. I have also noted that in this particular set at least one of the returns has a different address to the front cover (Minnie Eva Dunscombe - images 120 & 121 on Ancestry) so maybe the enumerator wasn't particularly efficient!

I am researching a particular road. But having problems. As I was going through the images of 1911 -got to the end of the road then there wee more forms -for same numbers I had just done -but for different people! all claiming that they had all of the 4 or 5 rooms! anybody come across this before? Don't know what to make of it.
for example
9 Greatwood Terrace, Topsham, Devon
Samuel Pearce 65
Florence Pearce 27
George Pearce 68

and then also
Matilda Jane Moss 45
Winifred Elsie Moss 2

Filled in on separate enumerators forms -with separate cover - all of them having the same address and number - there are a few others done in same way.
Any advice/ideas greatly accepted
:-) :-)
