Hi there, I am looking for help relating to my branch of the Wright family.
I am having great difficulty getting past the small amount of information I have already gathered. My Grandfathers cousin seems to be the stumbling block with me being unable to find any information past the register of her birth. I think more information on her would unearth a lot of information of further family.
Name: Mabel Emma Wright District: Canterbury, Kent Page: 1012 Volume: 2A Registered: January - March 1908
Birthday: February 15th 1908
Death: February 2009 (I don't have a record of this but I believe this is the date of the funeral I attended?)
Family assumptions are that she is the daughter of George Wright - a publican or innkeeper working around Kent with the family perhaps running The Swan Inn, The Tabard Inn, The Balaclava to name a few. Her mother is said to be burried in Wadhurst, name unknown. George is said to have the siblings Arthur, Frank, and Alfred – with not much known other than I believe Arthur James Wright married a lady called Marguerite May Wright (born Horgan) who in turn is my Great-Grandmother.
My grandfather is Norman Frederick Wright (Married. Beryl Major)
b. 19 June 1916 d. 1987 married: 14th january
Father: Arthur Wright Mother: Marguerite May Wright (Horgan)
Registered address at birth:
Tabard House Bath Rd Chiswick
I would be delighted to hear any information leading to the discovery of my family history.
Best, Thomas

Thank you both. I have searched the internet for the register of her birth, but it contains no information on her parents. I will have to order her birth certificate if indeed that will be any different.
Andy, this is the one - I have a letter saying her father is called George but of course Albert could indeed go by any other name.

Thank you Greyghost. Yes, this George character is what has been throwing the search off.
It certainly is the family - and gives me a few interesting leads. I will have to find out Mabel Snr. history.

Given that there are 27 pages of service records on him they don't actually say much - many are empty and others duplicated.
It does confirm his marriage to Mabel in Slough on 13th Feb 1907.
Daughter's birth 15th Feb 1908. - no other children mentioned.
He joined at 35, a Licenced Victualler of the Balaclava Inn. Height 5ft 71/2 ", weight 158 lbs and 'some false teeth'.#
Demobed 22 April, 1919 - received British War medal and Victory medal.
He did serve some time in France but the writing on the records is very feint so I can't see much more detail.

Thank you Dea – I would never had imagined reading a pyhsical description of him. I will consider looking into the will, my mother may have access to it already.
Are there any other details on George's brothers? or perhaps Mabel snr's family? I am interested in this favourite "Uncle Baden" – the name is strange to me. The listing of her surname, as both Kun and Keen also interest me, is this just a evolution of spelling or perhaps a germanic name anglicised?
Best Thomas

I think the name Keen has just been misread as Kun - the writing is very 'squashed together'.
I will take a look for 'uncle Baden'
