My ancestor was born 16 Jun 1514 in Cambridge, was appointed Regius Professor of Greek in 1540 by Henry VIII and tutor to Prince Edward in 1544. Following Edward's coronation in 1547, Cheke continued his close association with the young king. I have more, but I am hoping to find out if others on GenesReunited are researching this family or those he connected with at the time. The names Cox, Seymour, Cecil (Lord Burleigh) come to mind. |

There are several people with John Cheke 1514 in their trees on here, but possibly they won't have any more info than you can find online. Use the 'Search' facilty at top of page to 'search trees' and send a message. |

Thanks for the referral to Janus, Chris. I found an approximate date for the death of Peter Cheke, Sir John's father. Cheers, Andrew |
