Any occupants eligible to vote will be on the ER.....in the main library, as advised in February

To find out who the owner was, you'd probably need to have sight of the Deeds

Nothing anywhere will tell you about your relative's time at the address

is it possible with out a name, to find out who was living at 23 Acacia Road Marylebone from 1922 onwards or find out who owned the property

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 28 Feb 2015 11:06

I would think a more likely explanation for her being in London was that she obtained the employment through an agency.

Thank you for the information, i have all her birth details etc, they lived in Ireland from about c1895 and returned in 1916 during the easter risings. She had an illegitimate child in 1921 which was put up for adoption and listed Acasia Road as her address on the birth certificate. Father unknown, I was trying to work out how she ended up in London as she and her family all lived in and around Exeter Devon. I can only assume Percy must have had a country residence in that area.
Thank you once again for all your kind help.

Born late 1893 in Cornwall, married there in 1925

Can't, at the moment, find her on any census

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 28 Feb 2015 09:58

She would not have been eligible to vote

The outbreak of the First World War in 1914 led to a suspension of all politics, including the militant suffragette campaigns. Lobbying did take place quietly. In 1918, a coalition government passed the Representation of the People Act 1918, enfranchising women over the age of 30 who met minimum property qualifications. Ten years later, in 1928, the Conservative government passed the Representation of the People (Equal Franchise) Act giving the vote to all women over the age of 21.

i know my grand mother was a domestic there in 1921 and i'm trying to find out how long she may have been there. Olive Nellie Louise Gigg

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 28 Feb 2015 09:55

As you have been given the info you asked for, I don't think you need to do anything further

The info Choccy provide was, I believe, taken from the Ancestry website

ONLY those eligible to vote will be on the ER, anyway.

When 1921 census becomes available, you'll be able to see who else was residing there on the qualifying date
