If you know who she married, then you could try and find a marriage record to see if she give a middle name, or not?
In my experience I have often found that middle names are not given in the census records, and some people have even taken their middle name and drop their first names, so everything is possible.

If no father's name is mentioned at that date, then the child is illegitimate.
Fathers are always mentioned if the child is legitimate, mothers name not always so

Thanks everyone for your help. I think it is more likely to be the Manchester christening as the place and date are accurate.
I don't have a middle name for my Mary though in any of the census that follows. Does anyone know if that often happens in that people drop their middle names?
Also I wondered if there was a mention of a father as well?
