Help with Death of Elizabeth Hunt

Thanks for your help and suggestions Greyghost. my Eliza/ Elizabeth was the youngest daughter and her most of her siblings didn't have children, apart from my line. No-one to ask but I have booked an appointment next week at Oxford History Centre to view the electoral rolls as they might provide a clue.

Best wishes
Hilary

If you input Eliza into freebmd it will give you both Eliza and Elizabeth with or without further initials (Input Elizabeth only gives Elizabeth +/- initials)

It is not until 1969 that a DoB will show, before that it is only age at death.

Freebmd will let you put 1937 - 1983 (that's as far as it's details will ever go at present) but as it's an ongoing project the Elizabeth Hunts only go up to June Qtr 1973 at the moment.

Unfortunately, she could have died anywhere in (or out of) the country, not necessarily where she was living in 1937. You might have an impossible task.

Were there other siblings, nephews or nieces that you could trace who might have information?

You could try local papers for death notices in case she stayed in the area you last knew her to have been.

Sorry, bowing out, way past bedtime....

Thanks greyghost. I'm not local to Oxfordshire but guess that a trip to Oxfordshire History Centre might be on the cards to check the electoral rolls. Shame they don't appear to be digitised yet

Find My Past has 40 Elizabeth Hunt and 9 Eliza Hunt deaths 1957 +/- 20 years born 1876 +/- 1 year. It was not until approx. 1970 that DOB's were recorded as opposed to age at death. Remember what was recorded was recorded as told by the person registering the death who might not have or give the correct details. Also - died 1926 age 50 = b1876 on a record but could equally be 1875.

It is also possible that she could have married, even at 60 +

None of this helps does it?

Local ERs may hold a clue if she stayed at the Oxfordshire address or at least narrow down possibles -

That will be Bromley-by-Bow -
historically and officially Bromley, is a district in East London, England, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is an inner-city district situated 4.8 miles east north-east of Charing Cross. Wikipedia

This registration I should think as Poplar RD covered Bow/Bromley/Poplar/Poplar Borough
Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Births Mar 1876 (>99%)
HUNT Elizabeth Poplar 1c 699

Hi Yvonne

Thanks for your reply. The family that you have shown above doesn't belong to my Elizabeth/ Eliza, her father was George Willomatt Hunt and her birth certificate shows she was born in Bromley, Middlesex which is in the East End of London. (There is a Bromley in Kent too)

Thanks for trying
Hilary

Hi

Please could someone help me find the death of Elizabeth Hunt (also known as Eliza) who was born on 13 Jan 1876 in Bromley Middlesex. 1911 census shows her living at 13 Honey Lane, Cholsey, Berkshire, England. I know that she was alive in 1937 when she was the executrix of her late brother-in-law’s Will (which I have) and was a spinster living in his house in Mapledurham, Oxfordshire, that she inherited.

I’ve already ordered one wrong certificate for a death in Reading June Quarter 1958 and want to avoid making any further costly mistakes.

I have tried to find details on both Ancestry and Freebmd but I haven’t had any success and I think I probably need a lesson on how to use the search facility in both to better effect. I’ve tried to input the date of birth into FreeBMD when searching for a death but possibly am not inputting it in the required format (have input it as 13Jan1876 )

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Hilary
