Do you have the 1858 cert to show he was a widower

A tree on Ancestry says that Thomas was born 18 Sep. 1858, son of John & Ann.

This tree also has a photo of Ann Rees.

Can't your relative tell you the name of the 'first' wife?

As the 'second' marriage was 1858, the child Thomas is the result of that union

I have just looked through the many copy's of certs my late father kept and on the marriage cert it states that john was a widower
