The terminology suggests an habitual petty offender.......certainly not a man who had committed any major crime

The first bit of scandal in my tree so it would have been interesting to know what crime he committed. :-(

The only one on Ancestry was a William Tuck born 1860, Norfolk, He was imprisoned in Wakefield, Yorkshire, Nov. 1894, 14 days for neglect of family and April 1897, 14 days for drunk & disorderly. He was a boatman.
