Hello. I am trying to find William Souter born in Cockfield Suffolk in 1817 his father was James Souter & his Mother was Martha Crick all of Cockfield. The Whole family. Moved to London I don't know when. William Souter Married Elizabeth Taylor at St Jude's Whitechapel 24/6/185 . I can't find them on the census or anywhere can you help please ? also Elizabeth birth is a mystery |

Their eldest brother James 1801 born also in Cockfield , was a police Sargent in the London Mets: I have his warrant card . But I know nothing about William |

Don't dismiss a wrong spelling. At that time many people couldn't read or write so spelling was left to the registrar. |

It's in the London parish records for marriages. And you can save it to your PC and tyen print it |

Don't think his name was altered to Sowter it's just that he couldn't read or write so it's spelt how it sounded from his speach |
