The funeral will take place at Horbury tomorrow of Mr John William Bean, aged 73, who was Postmaster of Ossett for 30 years, and died in the Clayton Hospital at Wakefield, after a short illness. he had retired some years ago to live at Oak Lee, Rayner Street, Horbury. He was a native of the Pontefract district.

not sure George would have joined up unless he lied about his age

The legal age was 19 and george would be 18 in 1918 but he could have lied .

not seeing any war records for him but then only about 33% of them have survived the bombings of WW2 when the place they were stored was bombed and caught fire

There is a medal card for a man with the same name but this one was previously in a Welsh regiment so not likely to be yours

Hi I am trying to find the death of George Edward Bean born 1900 , his father was John William Bean & mother was Loretta Bean nee Lutterill. I have a photo of him with the family and on the back it says he,George was 15 and after that there is nothing I can find. I have wondered if he " ran away to join up" As his 3 elder brothers were in the forces .Bertram was in the Royal Artillery, Harold ( dad) was in the Royal Flying corps Lawrence , well I don't know about him
