Hi All,

Could some kind person please look for Lucy Wood born 1777 Oxton Nottinghamshire on above census please.

Her name on her marriage to John Wood in 1802 was down as Lucy Williows but she was christened as Mellows but family name was Mellors/Mellers.

I know there is a tree on ancestry that has her but I cannot access it. Sorry if this is all a bit confusing.

A tree on Ancestry says she's the daughter of Jonathon Mellows & Susanna Flowers.
It also has Jonathon's parents as John Mellor & Elizabeth Allen.
Also John's parents Samuel Mellor & Mary Siegefield.
Still going, Samuel's parents John Mellor & Catherine Cleaton.
Then John Mellor & Dorothy Topleys.
Then John Mellor.
Then Robert Mellor & Agnes Maddock.
Then Thomas Mellor & Alice Bradshaw.
Then Robert Mellor & Isabel Bradshaw.
Then John Mellor & Alice Alsop.
Then Robert Mellor & Isabel De la Haye.
Then Robert Mellor born 1396!!!

Thank you for looking at the tree yes John Mellers and Susanna Flowers are my 5th great grandparents does it say where they where born. Looks like that tree owner is thinking along the same lines as me. Some of John's and Susanna children were christened as Mellers the names seems to go though Mellers Mellows and ending up Mellors and Mellows.

The tree says that Jonathon was born 1739 in Oxton and Susanna 1748 but no place given. Only 1 child shown, Lucy.

Thank you for looking I have him just as John on marriage in 1769 married at North Collingham. And ages on burial records puts John birth abt 1748 and Susanna's birth abt 1739.

Think I'll take all those parents names with a pinch of Salt for now would like to know their proof going back that far.

That tree is wrong that Johnathon with parents John Mellors sand Elizabeth Allen was in Kirkby in Ashfield and married a Susannah Trewman in 1785 and was in Kirkby when their son William was born 1790.

Think I found John Meller's birth in Woodborough in 1747 son of John and Ann Mellers.
Woodborough is not from Oxton.

I was very suspcious about that tree, Wendy. When a tree goes back to 1396 you've got to wonder how correct it is.
