The inquest verdict was 'murder', but as you have seen from the first snippet, that was not upheld when the trial took place

not guilty of murdering a lance-corporal. He was discharged. T****** told the court that he accidentally shot L/Cpl. Alan James Botting (18), of Barry, in the weapon - training store at Merebrook Camp, Malvern, Worcs.

Alan James Botting was a lance corporal in the army based at Merebrook Camp, Malvern, Worcs.

In Sept 1950 Alan was shot and killed in the training stores. I know in Oct of the same year, a trial took place at Upton-on-Severn. Worcestershire and if possible, I'd like further information on the death and trial.

As the other person involved may still be alive, I would appreciate it if his name isn't posted.
