Hi I am tryong to trace my grandfather whose name was thomas williams I know he was in london in 1907 at west ham he was a ships fireman and I believe he was either jamaican or mixed race, If anyone could help me trace him I would be most grateful as this is all I know about him I know where he was living in 1907 although he was on ships as well. He was with a girl called daisy hobbs and the house they were living in had a voter in it called John Hobbs. My father was Henry Hobbs Williams he was born on 29th November 1907 and his mum died giving birth to him but I dont know what happened to his dad. Thankyou.

Hi sorry again I don't know if you have received my message now! It is not the correct hobbs as my daisy died in 1907 giving birth to my dad henry, his father was Thomas Williams. She was daisy hobbs born in Lewisham. I spent a lot of time on the other daisy hobbs before I realised that it was the wrong daisy. jean

One further request.

please tell us what you wish to know.............we love to help, but it's easier if we have some idea of what is required

Jacqueline Report 14 Jan 2015 10:47

The 'Researching' message on Ann's post is not aimed at anyone in particular. It's just a general directive.

Copying your other threads, rather than posting links, as they don't have any useful replies

Hi I am trying to find a Thomas williams who was either jamaican or of mixed race he was working on ships in 1907 and he was at dale road london in 1907 on the night of november 29th. I have no other info only that he had a son and the mother was called daisy hobbs. thanks

AND

Hi I have some certificates if any one would like them they are john hobbs marriage in wincanton 1848. daisy hobbs birth 1886 islington.charles hobbs 1850 birth wincanton. charles hobbs marriage 1875 london. charles hobbs marriage in west ham 1902.

So can you tell us if Daisy born 1886 is the one had the child with Thomas Williams

Can you also go to your post at the top of this thread, click on EDIT, and add 'Still looking' to the Title, as your tick makes people think you don't need any more help

Gladys

hi Jacqueline they would be useful but I am not used to threads and I find I am not answering people and it is wasting their time. If you do post the links I will have look. I also thought the message at the bottom of Ann's message maybe to me so I got a bit worried that I was doing it wrong. jean

I think you will have to give more information on the Hobbs family (names, dates and places) before anybody can help you.

Have you tried Search All Member Trees which is under SEARCH at the top right hand of the GR page ?
