This is the only birth shown on SP for a Betty (or variation) Mackie (or variation) in Dysart - no guarantee it's her: |

If that's him, as posted by Gins (son of Thomas and Betty), then this will be their marriage: |

Yes I agree. I think I have found him on the 1881 census - retired seaman. I wonder if "retired servant" was a misprint. |

You're right. It does seem like him because Christina is there. Odd that his occupation is retired servant though. Any ideas where I can find him at the 1851 and 1861 census? I'm not that familiar with where to find records of sailors but I guess he could have been anywhere. I'll have a look for his death after 1871 now. |

I am trying to find the death record of Alexander Anderson born in Abbotshall, Fife, 1805 and married to Helen Hepburn in 1828. He was a sailor. He appears in the 1841 Census but I cannot find him in any subsequent census. He had 7 children (Janet, Betsy, Alex, Isabella, Helen, Christina). His youngest child was 1 month old at the 1851 census. I am hypothesising that he died (perhaps at sea) around 1850 or 1851. |
