Hi Everybody

Many Thanks for your responses to my question !

It seems that certain people just refuse to be traced !!! James must have had parents but they do not appear anywhere . I have been trying for 7 years to get the information but it looks as though I will have to wait another 7 !!!

It's a pity because James has his "offspring" in Australia , New Zealand , Canada , USA and it would have been great to extend his line further back . It's been quite frustrating because tracing the ancestors of his wife , Christiana Utting ,has not been so difficult !

Ann- I think Philip wanted details of James' parents.

Philip- on the 1841 census it looks like an 'N' for no in the 'born in county' box. Meaning it's unlikely James was born in Woolwich
