Hi for the last 10yrs I have been trying to find out what happened to my great grand father. He was born Ticehurst Sussex 1878. Moved to Lyminge near Folkestone with family to the NEW INN pub. Met Emily Edith Wright in Folkestone married at local Parish church. I think he lied about his age ... 20 but 21 on marriage cert. Had 3 children Edgar I G bn1899-1955 / Reginald H bn1905-1977 / George H J bn1909-1986. George's parents were George H bn1855-1934 Goudhurst Kent / Mary Ann Oliver bn 1857 Ticehurst Kent. ( Disappeared when Grandad was very young - think he died not sure - info from dad ) Researched lots of George Butlers but none with a connection. I would love to know where he died & when or help with where to apply to ask? Thanks Rosy

Have you found him in 1911 census?
Here he is in 1901, for our reference:
1901 England Census about George H J Bulter Name: George H J Bulter [George H J Butler] Age: 21 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1880 Relation to Head: Head Gender: Male Spouse: Emily E Bulter Birth Place: Ticehurst, Sussex, England Civil Parish: Folkestone Ecclesiastical parish: St Michael and All Angels Town: Folkestone County/Island: Kent Country: England Street address: Registration district: Elham Sub-registration district: Folkestone ED, institution, or vessel: 05 Neighbors: View others on page Piece: 846 Folio: 158 Page Number: 51 Household schedule number: 390 Household Members: Name Age George H J Bulter 21 Emily E Bulter 22 Edgar G E Bulter 1

Emily and the children are boarders in 1911, so presumably George "disappeared" between 1901 and 1911. Emily is listed as married, not widowed:

In 1890 Silas sold it to George Butler, a carrier for the parish of Etchinghill. He remained here until his death in 1928, whereby his son, Ernest, took over the licence. On his death in 1944, his wife Emma Eliza Butler (possibly known as Rene) took over the licence until her death in 1965. Her son, William Marden (possibly known as Sammy), took over the tenancy, remaining here until 1975. The licence was not transferred to William (Bill) Marden until some years later when he sold to William E. Lipka
