Find Ancestors

I was wondering if anyone might know who Clara McSporran might be. I was searching the immigration of John McSporran and wife Janet McLarty and some of their children to Canada in 1913. But there was a child also traveling with them with the name of Clara McSporran. I do not know who she is or how she is related. I tried to find anything about her, but I cannot find any info. Can anyone help me? :-)

I would have thought Clara was their daughter aged one and a half years when they immigrated.

thank you everyone. I didn't realize there was so much info out there and yet I couldn't find Clara. If the grandparents listed the grandchild as their own was it because their own son or daughter had a child without being married or that they were too young to get married ? So Clara could be any of the older children's child. This is why I couldn't imagine Clara was their child because John was 54 and Janet was 51 when they immigrated to Canada. I don't believe any of the children were married when they immigrated except for Katherine (married John Bowie in Scotland) . But Clara was listed as a McSporran not a Bowie. Also what is a carter for occupation ? :-S

A carter was someone who drove a cart, or equivalent of a haulage employee or contractor nowadays.

If you buy credits on ScotlandsPeople, you can view/save/print the image of Clara's birth cert, posted above by greyghost, it will give you all the details about Clara's parents.
Cheaper than buying the cert.

If she's listed as daughter on the travel record, it might just be a mistake by the clerk.

Clara Patterson McSporran,was born on the27/08/1911,Campletown Mother was Flora McSporran,birth certificate states that Clara is illegitimate.However there is a ryder to record,stating that John Colville and Flora be recognised as parents.

FMP brings up 4 x John Colvilles on the 1901 census in Campbeltown - aged 44 (single), 33 (married) 13 and 6. Of course the father may be none of these.

Scotland's People shows 3 in 1911 - aged 24, 16 and 44 - you would need to buy credits to look for further information for the 1911 SP records as they are only available on there and for 1901 as there is no image to go with the transcription. Again, he might be none of these and unless there is more info as to which John, you might never know.
