Find Ancestors

Hi there,
I am looking for a birth or census information please for William Downs. He was born around 1821 in either Leeds or Ireland. He married Ann Falan in 1843 and they were both living on Marsh Street, Leeds. Williams father is called Thomas and I can't interprete what Thomas' occupation was. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thomas Downs' occupation was 'Weaver'.

There is an image of the parish record of the marriage on Ancestry - Thomas's occupation is quite clear on that - Weaver. William is a wood turner. Have you found him on a later census to confirm his YOB - just says Full Age on the cert. Witnesses were David Hoyle and Mary Wright. Bride and grooms address - Marsh Lane.

That is absolutely brilliant thank you. Sounds like you are right about mother, father and sister. William did indeed marry Ann Falan in 1843 who I believe was also born in Ireland. They had a daughter Mary Ann Downes born 1850 in Leeds who is part of my ancestry, think they also had a son called William.

There was a son William but he does not appear with the family in 1861 so he may have died
