Nice try! Isn't it always the way. I wonder who the parents were and if there is a chance she was born in Leicester. Am away for a few days, I do have Ancestry, but rarely use it, so will try to fathom the system and contact Mary, just to see what she can tell me, after all there must be a line of names going back to the common ancestor. Thanks once again jansmith

Reply from Mary
Afraid I don't know much about Eleanor : she was the great grand-daughter of Simon Joseph Baugh, who was the older brother of my ggg grandmother Mary Baugh - so not close!

Sent a message to Mary Ann who corrected the name on Anc. to ask if she has any info that might help.

jansmith, thank you, can't see a way to prove/disprove that one. It would certainly bring her down to somewhere in the right area to have met George. Closer than Leicester anyway !!!

Thanks to all who have tried to find Eleanor. Looks from Chris Ho's post that there were siblings who have died as well as the Father. No mother mentioned!

There is a GRO birth for an Ellen Harrison in Loughborough 1860 (RR's 1871 census). Having looked at the image, she is a servant at the Blue Boar Inn and there is a Harrison family living next door but one - Father Joseph is a Boatman

Thanks RR. I think unlikely unfortunately. There was a Catherine Mary Gertrude Harrison b 1860 in Leicestershire, my guess that this would be her. I will check it out further though, thank you

I'm wondering if father Harrison died when she was an infant and her mother remarried, being recorded on the 61 and 71 census under her stepfather's surname.........
But there are a lot of William Harrison deaths in Leics at that time :(

I'm stuck with this one, probably looking right at me! Can you find her please? Thanks

Eleanor Harrison a Spinster of Southsea (Hants) married George Sewell Sutton a Dispenser of Princes Street on 4.9.1886 at St Margaret, Westminster (FMP). She is stated to be aged 26 and her Father William formerly a Clerk is deceased.
George had lived in Alverstoke, Gosport, Hants 1861/71/81 - just across Portsmouth Harbour from Southsea

Census post marriage.
1891 - Gosport, Hants age 29 b Leicester
1901 - Kensington, London age 32 b Leicester
1911 - Kensington, London age 44 b Leicester

I have found her in 1881 in Southsea, Hants a Visitor at a Lodging House age 21 b Leicester but can't find her in 1861 and 1871.

There is a Q4 1859 birth reg. for an Eleanor Harrison in Leicester. Only ever Eleanor, no middle name/s given
