Find Ancestors

I have spent a lot of time this afternoon searching for a George William Moorcroft on both the 81 and 91 censuses. George William Moorcroft was born 1859 Coventry. His parents were James Moorcroft b 1817 Foston Derbyshire and his mother Nary Smith b 1821 Maxstoke, nr Coventry. George had siblings Mary Ann, Elizabeth and Sarah.

The last census sighting I have of George is 1871 when he is age 13 living Crow Lane Coventry with parents and a sister.

By 1881 his parents and married sister Sarah are still living Crow Lane, Coventry but no George in sight - he would have been 23 at this time.

George married Martha Elizabeth Farey in 1885 Coventry and I have failed to find this couple on 1891 census together with their two children George James 1886 and Eliza 1888.

I have been as thorough as I can searching fior George on these two census returns but no luck. Would anyone please take a look and see if I am going blind or if they have been mistranscribed or just not been recorded. Many thanks.

Hi Brummiejan - thank you but I've got all census returns bar the 1881 and 1891. However the 1891 you found looks promising as George and Martha's third child Herbert was born in Melton Mowbray. It looks as if Martha in 1891 was living with their first two children back with her mother. Now all I need is to find George William in 1881 - where the heck has he disappeared to !!! Must log off now as dogs are going barmy with the fireworks that are going off here with a vengeance.
