hit a brick wall here martha mills abt 1770 Shepshed married to john merriman lots of descendants but absolutely no ancestors or siblings.Can anybody help please.

I should think this has a good chance of being a brother of Martha, with Martha being named after her mother:

Name: Joseph Mills
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 23 Dec 1769
Birthplace: BAPTIST,SHEPSHED,LEICESTER,ENGLAND
Father's Name: Jno. Mills
Mother's Name: Martha

Familysearch has a load of details for Mills in Shepshed, in the non-conformist collections. Can't see your Martha, though.
