Thanks Chris, I've been lucky enough to be in contact with quite a few of my distant cousins since I started family tree and as I said before the Browning book was very informative, its just the James was a mystery. Oh well, keep on keeping on. Regards Alana

Hi Chris, Hannah's father was William Browning, born Launceston, Cornwell. Hannah born 19/07/1825 Launceston. William and family came to Australia as Bounty Immigrants 1/07/1840. Hannah would have been 23 when she married James.

I'm so sorry I didn't see all the replies from Cherilyn. I have marriage cert of James and Hannah Norton/browning in 1848 Queensland. Hannah had been married before to a Thomas Norton. There was a coroners inquest to James Wrights death in 1875. James and Hannah had 17children.
The James Wright that died in 1880 was married to Eliza Bennett. He was born 1822. It took me many months to find the correct James Wright, I still have 3 death cert that I bought thinking they were the correct one. It was only when I read the book on the Brownings did I find the correct James.
I do apologize for not answering soon. Alana :-)

Marriage date also seems out:

I think this is a marine marriage.

Dizzi,

Could you say what information has been sent, so we do not search for what you have already found?

As these people are long dead, there are no confidentiality issues, surely?

Thank-you

Looking for information on a Frederick James Wright who came to Australia, I believe as a settler approx 1840-1848. Married Hannah Norton, maiden name Browning in Queensland 1848. Frederick mostly known as James died in 1875 when a tree fell on him. There is no details on his marriage cert of his parents, and I believe he came from UK. Any information would be helpful. Alana :-)
