Not sure it's a good idea to give his mother's full name on this insecure site

It sounds as though she may have been one of the Irish girls who travelled to England to have their children, then returned to their native country

His first name may be that given by his birth mother. It depends on how old he was when he was adopted as to whether it would have been changed

Has he applied for his adoption papers?

Is there as possible birth for him on freebmd?

ADDED

The only Patrick Murphy with MMN Murphy registered in JFM 1951 was born in Camberwell

The only Murphy/Murphy birth in Liverpool was female

Does anyone know if it is possible to find out about adoption.
A relative who lives in New Zealand, but was born in this country was adopted. He was brought up in Liverpool and would like to find out about his birth mum. He knows his birth mum's name was Sarah Philomena Murphy and his birthday is on the 17th January 1951. He was adopted by a Edward and Esther Terry and his name is Patrick. We are not sure if this was the name he was given by his birth mum or his adoptive parents. :-S :-S
