This is the only census I could find that fits Barnabas. The father appears to be Barnabas as well though.

Any siblings for Barnabas?

Kucinta

Kucinta Report 19 Oct 2014 16:24

The Barnabas Long Ann C mentions, married Mary Allen in 1843, but his father's name was also Barnabas, not Thomas

Name: Mary Allen
Age: Full Age
Marriage or Bann Date: 14 Sep 1843
Parish: Leeds, St Peter
Father's Name: Henry Allen
Spouse's Name: Barnabas Long -tailor<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Spouse's Father's Name: Barnabas Long - farmer<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Groom's address Railway St
Bride's address MIll Street.

EDIT:

Occupation of tailor tallied with that of Barnabas Jr in the 1841 census alviegal posted, but father's occupation on census was publican, not farmer.

The Barnabas Long who died in 1845 as posted by alviegal was a married man,
of Rodney St.

The elder Barnabas Long and his much younger wife Martha had a son they named Barnabas born the year after the 1845 death:

Name: Barnabas Long
Birth Date: 1 Aug 1846
Parish: Leeds, St Peter
Baptism Date: 22 Sep 1846
Father's Name: Barnabas Long
Mother's name: Martha Long

Barnabas is described as a cattle dealer.

-------------------

Kevin - would you give us the evidence for Barnabus's father's name as Thomas - was it from Barnabus's baptism, his marriage, or both?
