When a child first starts school in 1890 Lancashire would the Parents have to provide a Birth Certificate for proof of age Thanks Pam |

I doubt it.... Although it was compulsory to register births, I don't think they needed to show birth certs for anything |

My husband had to provide a birth cert. to start school but it was during WW2. |

thanks to all replies my enquiry was to open up a new lead on an old thread coming from a different angle but I don't think that will be possible now regarding birth certificates I would be very interested to link with someone from the Lincolnshire area that maybe has lots local knowledge to help with my older brick wall thread Kind Regard Pam |

I have in front of me a certified copy of a birth certificate ( 1920 birth in Bermondsey) |
