Find Ancestors

Thank you all for your help yesterday. Much appreciated. I am back today for just under 2hrs... to try and find more details on John Greenwood c1754-1815 and his children James Greenwood and Alice Greenwood.

When Robert and Alice married, they were both described "of this Parish". Given Alice's age ( about mid 20s) it may be that she had lived most of her life there but not necessarily born there. The family may have moved when father John died in 1815.


EDIT

Looking at the image for the death of John in 1815, his abode is given as Kearsley.

Interestingly, there seem to have been no Greenwoods baptised or married in Deane between 1764 and 1802, which makes the Radcliffe baptisms seem quite likely.

Looking at the 1851 census her birth year is c1792. My gut feeling is that the 1792 birth is your Alice. Do you know when she died please?

John's occupation on that marriage is Husbandman, same as on the baptism of some of his children. On other baptisms his occupation is Farmer.

familysearch has transcriptions for Deane but nothing coming up for Alice - there is an Alice Greenhalgh:

Why are you sure that Alice was born in 1796 please?

Also Kearsley is now part of Greater Manchester?

Kearsley was a township in the ancient ecclesiastical parish of Deane, in the Hundred of Salford. Kearsley was an urban district from 1894 until 1974.[3] In 1933, part of Clifton was added to Kearsley Urban District. Part of Outwood, Radcliffe became part of Kearsley in line with the 1933 Lancashire Review.

According to lancsopc, Kearsley is in the parish of Deane; no baptism records are on there after 1750.

Alice was born in 1796 so I doubt this is correct sorry

Several possible baptisms in Manchester area, but none in Kersley or Deane.

Have you found the couple on the 1851 census, which should give her POB?

Please if anyone could possibly help/ I am seeking a baptism for Alice Greenwood to establish parents... All I know is she married Robert Seddon 26/05/1819 in Deane, Lancashire. Robert died in 1852. I have looked on lancs opc
