Salvation Army for finding relatives ?

many many years my grandfather approached the Salvation Army in trying to find his grandson. Apparently did find him but beleive they only pass on details and await to see if they want to liase back in return. Dont think they actually pass on any information whatsoever to the person who is doing the search.

Hundreds (if not thousands) of people have done so over the years.

But they don't research Ancestors - they only try to locate living people whose families have lost touch with them

And I may be wrong, but I'm fairly confident that they don't touch tracing adoptees

Has anybody used the family tracing service to find relatives? If so was it successful ? :-)
