Find Ancestors

G,G,G,G Grandfather born about 1776. No birth or Baptism details. Married Sally Snailham at St Johns,Preston in 1800. No mention of parents for either event. I can find Joseph Stocks born about that date in Yorkshire.
1841 Census gives his age as 65 so birth date should be around 1776.No place of birth.
Any help with Birth/ Baptism details would be appreciated.

Don't forget he could be up to 4 years older than the 1841 census states, though since he was still fathering children in 1823, the given age is probably more or less accurate!

Thanks again to everybody. It is Joseph"s birth and baptism details that I cannot locate. The couple in Yorkshire could be the answer but I cannot verify.

Well his death would indicate the same yob as given on the census, but as he didn't make it to the 1851 census it would be difficult to know where he was born, so I'm not sure what you can do to verify this.

Unless someone comes up with anything better, only thing I could suggest is you try to track the couple in Yorkshire see if you can eliminate them. Or try looking for apprenticeship indentures maybe?
