Not sure how that would help Anne, as they weren't married?

Have you tried posting on a WW2 RAF forum? If you google this, you will find there are several sites. People on there should b able to advise you.

There is this site too, not sure if it might help:

There are 8 Robert Herring births in the London area, 1912-32. Obviously, he might have been born elsewhere, but if not this isn't too many. And you can probably narrow it down a little more really, as this gives an age of 17-37 in 1939.

Just his mother's name was on the birth certificate. I've been searching for ages and had no luck.

From your wording it seems he isn't named on your dads birth cert?

do you have your fathers birth cert giving both parents names, age and occupation ???
you could then find their marriage and their fathers names and occupations

Hello all

I'm looking for a possible grandfather of mine, my father's father and I know his name is Robert Herring and he was from London. My dad was born in 1951 so my best guess is that this man would of been born between 1920-30. He was at RAF Stafford between 1949-1951. Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

Jack Andrea
