But this enumerator seems to have used F against several on the same sheet which seems odd so am guessing he put that to mean not born on County rather than born in foreign parts

Yes, that's them. Elizabeth was born in Nottingham.

What I'm trying to figure out, is where he is from. Unless there are other records on him, it might remain a mystery. I read that putting 'F' could simply mean he's from out of county. So I guess I should first 'try' rule out Joseph Dearloves from other counties. That's going to be a feat!

Oh, I should have mentioned, I marked him down as dying in 1846.

So if Scotland and Ireland are ruled out, he's from another part of the world. Would his nationality be on his death certificate, I wonder.

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if I could get a little bit of help on one of my ancestors.

I found Joseph Dearlove on the 1841 Census, age 70 (DOB:1771) living with his wife Elizabeth (nee Woodhead, DOB:1781) in Middlesex. It has him marked down simply as 'Foreign'. Does this mean he was born in another country or could it be possible that he is just from another county? I'm not sure on these things, as Dearlove doesn't seem like a foreign name to me. Any insight or hunting would help greatly!
