Hmmm -
must be a different thing from when I had what sounded like the same problem.
I had "copied" relations turning up for no obvious reason, and GR support removed them.
I also have lots of people in my tree who have had more than one partner, and there's no sign of "copied" or a C, or anything like that.

Just out of interest:
You say, "if you put the letter c against their name in the tree you can see the different partnerships".
Where do you put the letter C?

hi
i contacted genes support and they said that when you get relation been copied means that the person has had more than one partner and if you put the letter c against their name in the tree you can see the different partnerships

just for future reference if can be of help?

Thanks, Sylvia - I knew there was an email address, but couldn't think what it was, and couldn't find it!
I've now written it down for future reference - so long as I remember where I wrote it.

Assuming you mean your tree is on GR, you need to contact the help desk.

To do that, you click on "Help" at the top of this page.
On the next page, go to the Search box at the left of the page (don't click "Contact us" even though you would think that would be the sensible thing to do!).
Enter a question or word - anything will do for this purpose, it doesn't have to be relevant - and click "search".
Then under "Search results" at the left, you'll see this:

"If none of the above FAQs answer your question, please submit your query to our dedicated support team. "

Click on "submit your query" and tell them what the problem is.

I had the same problem a while ago, and they sorted it out quickly.
