Arthur Alfred Fitch 1887

I would be extremely grateful if someone could crack the following:

Arthur Albert Fitch born 29.03.1887 St John's Wood London. The only document that I can find that supports this is the 1901 Census for Wales, in which he is 14 and the son of Arthur Edward Fitch and Mary Turner Fitch ( He from Herts, she from Essex)...there is no apparent registration of Birth that fits (1887 Braintree might fit)..and the problem is further exacerbated by the fact that the parents did not marry till 1895.

Can anyone find a Baptism for Arthur Alfred Fitch 29.03.1887 St John.s Wood???????

Pretty please....(My picture is Ledston hall.a school of which he was headmaster till 1951)
Many thanks

Derek. (the Derbyshire one!!)

Sorry, 'adopted' is too simplistic, in that he might be a child of just one of them Apologies!

Hi Shirley and Jan.......I doubt he would have been adopted becasue he was with them at Tintern Parva in 1901 aged 14..(Incidentally in 1903 he was arrested for breking into a safe and stealing £7.00 from Tintern Parva Railway Station, of which his father was Stationmaster)..and he was a Monmouth Grammar School Boy!!..so adoption is unlikely as by 1911 he would be ot there somewhere fending for himself...

No Shirley..I have the marriage details for Mary Turner Fitch who was a first cousin of Arthur edward Fitch whom she definitely married. I have a copy of the Parish record Marriage entry.........You BMD entry is wrong...soryy!!

Not sure what you mean Derek, as in 'adoption' being unlikely??
If the 1911 was accurate, he was not son to them both as they have declared no children born to the marriage.
Maybe I didn't express what I meant clearly - I was trying to say that they took him on as they were childless..
If this was the case there will be no records I imagine, as adoption was almost never formal until about 1927.

Derek, I assume you have a tree on Ancestry? According to that he was a medical student in Liverpool in 1912, when he married a Margaret Mary Nicholson. He apparently gave his name as Arthur Vincent Fitch!
Do you happen to have that cert, assuming all this is correct?

Hello Jan..I have see the BMD entry for te marriage to Margaret Nicholson, and have been unable to ratioalise the V..except that he later had a son with Vincent amongst his names....I don't have a Tree on Ancestry except my own.....This is not my family..he was my Headmaster at Ledston Hall School,,and a very evil man....I take your point about him being adopted by the parents shown on the 1901.....and Shirley offers the point that he might have been registered under his mother's maiden name..which was FITCH!! oh joy!
