The outgoing passenger list confirms his dob 20/7/1909, which matches the baptism in Karachi - so I would be pretty sure the 1955 record is correct.

Sorry for being pedantic, but on the outgoing voyage it doesn't say he was BORN in Australia, it says Australia in response to "Country of which a citizen as shown on passport".

I would be mindful of this birth, just in case first names got reversed (as happens)

Douglas William Dunbar b.1909 emigrated to Melbourne Australia in 1960, his profession a Gardner. His parents were William and Edith Dunbar nee Splane.

He was single when entering Australia - he was born in India but on the ships records he has his place of birth as Australia!.

I would love to know where he lived in Australia and when he died.
