Moss can be a diminutive of Moses. I see he has a nephew Moses living with him in 1911. Several of the family have Jewish names. Any possibility they were Jewish & they had Anglicised their surname?

I think the 1911 census is correct- this is the family in 1920 on the Birmingham Electoral Register:
25 Ellis Street, Harborne, Edgbaston: RO Moss Davis HO HO Fanny Davis R- Jack Davis
Moss and Fanny are still at 25 Ellis Street in 1927 but Solomon Davis (now of voting age) also appears
I can't see Moss at this address after 1927ish, although Fanny is living there until 1947.
I wonder then if this is Moss's death:
MOSS DAVIS Gender Male Birth year 1873 Age 56 Death quarter 4 Death year 1929 District BIRMINGHAM SOUTH County Warwickshire Volume 6D Page 208
There is another possible death in Birmingham in 1940 but the above one fits with him missing from the family home.

That's what I am thinking too but finding it hard to find Moss & Fanny or a marriage for them no trace in 1901,Jack could have remained in London and came to Birmingham later on..or it could be the old case of Jack was Fanny's son out of wedlock or to another husband and she never married Moss....

It seems Rootgatherer also sent you a copy of the marriage so you should be able to see occupations- did you not receive it?

If the 1911 census above is correct for Moss (which is possible as the occupation 'furniture dealer' fits with the occupation on Jack's marriage)- then his son John/ Jack could have been born in London (son Jacob was born London 1902 and then following children born Birmingham):
Moss Davis Head Married Male 35 1876 London Antique Furnisher Dealer Fanny Davis Wife Married Female 25 1886 London At House Jacob Davis Son - Male 9 1902 London School Solomon Davis Son - Male 6 1905 Birmingham - Lizzie Davis Daughter - Female 4 1907 Birmingham - Mitchell Davis Son - Male 2 1909 Birmingham - Lilly Davis Daughter - Female 0 1911 Birmingham - Moses Davis Cousin Single Male 16 1895 London
Perhaps Jacob was the Jack you're searching for?? Worth considering
