Ahhhhh still looking for that one !!!!

So far nothing ties in with birth date given on death registration....

Nothing in name Churchill on IOW

I was excited to tell friend all but then realized still no concrete proof.....

Misty x

Edit...in actual fact I have proved nothing except who the Arthur and Kate in 1911 census with a child Harold are......!!!!!

H Shirley,

I searched Arthur Churchill, 1873, Hampshire (taken from 1911 census, replacing London with Hampshire)......

Fredderick Arthur (Longman) Churchill came up on Churchill/Cake family tree and I set to work.....

Frederick A C Longman married Jessie Newbery......left her and lived with Kathleen (Kate) Smith who I believe is Harold Leonard's mother

Misty x

Pork butcher in 1901, don't think him and Kate ever married as Jessie was still alive(although cant find her in 1911) He got "rid" of Frederick and Longman to become Arthur Churchill with new family....

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 13 Sep 2014 11:59

There's another Arthur - Kate combo in 1911, which is more likely to be the couple who married in 1909

The husband died in 1917, having been born in Ceylon

CHURCHILL ARTHUR LINDSAY MAURY — 1917 1917 Deaths & burials Cornwall, England

So that definitely rules out that marriage

.........trouble is, there doesn't actually seem to be one!

and I can't find an Arthur Churchill, butcher, on a census before 1911

Mistycat Report 13 Sep 2014 11:59

!!! I wonder if he was adopted....

Marriages Jun 1909 (>99%)
CHURCHILL Arthur Lindsay M Faringdon 2c 607
COUSINS Kate Louisa Faringdon 2c 607

If I have found the correct marriage, it looks like they married after the birth of Harold

The way the records are laid out, I wonder if the girls have a different mother, or was the father just sexist?
