A Georgina M Kembrey comes up as being on the 1881 Canadian Census
"My" Georgina was born 1866 Stroud Glocestershire so would be only 15( if it is her)
I would be grateful for any info please. :-)

She is English and 15 years of age, but no other details on the image for her. The people she is living with are Canadian.
Sorry, I will post the details, but Ancestry has just froze on me.

Actually looking at the rather bad image, the head of household is Wm or William - although they state from Ontario, they state their origin as Irish and they are presbiterians (no doubt I've spelt that wrong!)

Google Maria Rye Homes there's lots of interesting information. I wonder what happened to Matilda/Rachel Matilda who was with Georgina in 1871.

I wonder if Rachel Matilda, (birth found by root gather) took the Bateman name when Lydia Kembrey married Matthew Bateman. Just a thought
Marriages Dec 1878 (>99%) BATEMAN Rachel Cirencester 6a 665 BEDWELL Robert Cirencester 6a 665
Having looked at census records for 1871, 1881 and 1901 I think there's a good chance she is the same person. So was Georgina her sister and Lydia her mother?

Lydia Bateman nee Kembrey can't be Georgina's mother as she married Matthew Bateman in 1861 and Georgina was born in 1866 and presumably would have been registered as Georgina Bateman if she was Lydia's

Apologies for the delay in responding-I got "overtaken by events" -involving water,a plummer and electrician :-(
Thank you all for your input.
It would seem that Georgina was another of those children shipped out from "homes" in the UK
Rachel Matilda and Georgina are sisters the illig daughters of Anne Kembrey who I think is the Anne Kembrey who married a William Pember at Cheltenham in 1877
Anne was the younger sister of Lydia Kembrey who married Mr Bateman after having 3 illigit of her own although I suspect they may have been Batemans -he lived next door !!
I am very grateful for the info you have provided and will see where it leads :-)

I find iteasier to search the census on Ancestry, rather than the LAC site, so I search the 1881 at: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=1577 I search for Georg* K*b*r*y born 1866 +/-2 and get 2 hits:
Name Home in 1881 Birth Year Birthplace Georgene Kembrey township, Monck, Ontario 1866 location George Kingsbury township, Grey North, Ontario 1866 location
Since I don't have a sub, I can't see more here. Ancestry will show 50 hits at a time - LAC only shows 10 at a time. Now I do know how her names are spelled, what her age is said to be, and which district & province she lives in, so I can enter all these and expect to get her on the first page of hits at LAC (there's only 1 hit this time). The link I gave above accesses all the censuses except 1921: http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/Pages/census.aspx
For 1921, there is free access right now for everyone, but only if you go via: http://search.ancestry.ca/search/db.aspx?dbid=8991
Of course, between ages 15 & 25 she could well have married. In the UK there's no national system of civil registration, and since Canadian laws are based on the UK's, there's no national system in Canada. In the UK that's handled by the countries, but in Canada it's the job of the provinces.
There are some Ontario BMDs at: https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1®ion=CANADA

Thank you for the links.
I read about the Maria Rye Homes and it sounds as if they were very controversial
