Yes Ann, that is a switch I have heard of too.

It's the fact here that I don't seem to have a birth registered for this grandson Jack, so Harry seems the only one who otherwise fits.

This is my worst extended family group on the whole tree for turning names around or changing them altogether.
That, ...coupled with stating children born in Glamorgan were born in Herefordshire makes them hard to follow.

we had a Jack in our family but his birth name was John - this seems to have been quite a common occurrence in the early 1900s

Robert Harold did marry Mary Ann WELLINGS and Arthur Charles was their son.

All the others posted by Ann do link into the extended family.

I did wonder.....or is this stretching it too far.... if Harry Cecil is in fact the one seen as Jack, but as there is already a Harold in the house, he is called Jack , -named after his possible ? father.

I know that Harry Cecil was baptised 11 February 1903...of Ruth, a single woman.

Herbert and Elizabeth had a daughter Frances Ruth ( Ruth in 1901 census) who married as Ruth in 1904.

This family group often calls a child by it's middle name.....or some other name which takes their fancy.

I think ? that Harriet is probably Leah Harriet.....and Harold is quite likely her son Robert Harold Davies SKERRETT, .... but who is Jack ?

The registration area for that village is Bromyard and the only SKERRETT birth around the right time is Harry Cecil......??

I already know the history of this family, it's the 1911 grandsons who I am trying to sort.
