i put in kate born 1904 with father thomas in warwickshire and kate simmins name came up which is mistranscribed

Looking at the actual image it is indeed Timmins ................ but the transcriber had difficulty with it because it was a copper plat T, with scrolls, so looked rather like an S

However, the initial letter of Thomas is exactly the same.


I have sent in an amendment to ancestry for you



I found it by using the wild card * ................... * on ancestry, not sure about GR, stands for any number or unknown letters

I asked for Thomas *immins


and I will try that for the 1901.




As regarding your other question ...........................



those of us who help others have our own annual subscriptions to sites, and usually to sites other than GR.

It does not cost us any more money to do look ups for other people.


The only site where most people will not do look-ups for others is Scotland's People ............ that site does not have annual subscriptions, everyone has to buy credits.

Thank you, this sounds correct, could Simmons be the error of the scribe?,Timmins is recorded for Kate birth and marriage. How did you work this out? As you realize I am knew to this type of search for family records. Would I find the names as Timmins going back 10 yrs
