Missing family in Lanark

Wayne Kenneth Report 25 Aug 2014 13:11

The 1856 arrival.. Timeline fits and is new detail that Dingeman was an Engineer versus his later occupation as Commission Merchant. The accompanying M. Lucardie .. the only first named initialled M. amongst Dingeman’s male siblings was his younger brother, 1841 Martinus.. just conjecture that it’s him but again seaman fits though he seems a bit young.. Martinus was later to graduate from the Dutch Royal Naval College and sail for the East Indies in 1861, rising to a rank of Rear-Admiral of the Navy and a Knight.
Aside from this arrival, and those of Dingeman’s father in the 1840’s & 50’s there was also a George Reinier Lucardie who arrived in London on the 28th of July 1851, but of a different branch of the family than either this thread or the earlier one ref’d to by Gins.
Re the children of Frances Eliza Glen / Lucardie, Gritty, thanks for the Royal Irish Rifles Frances Gle double n.. looks tempting with sister Sarah a close name match though the double n, Sarah versus Sara, and lack of Lucardie surname will keep this file “open” in my Tree.

If Frances gave hid NOK as his sister when he enlisted in 1889 then either his mother was deceased or maybe she had married and he didn't get on with his stepfather. Look on Scotlandspeople for a possible death or marriage for her.

Did the birth registrations for the children give a date and place for the parents marriage please?

If the father had left the children, the mother may have claimed Poor Relief. These records are indexed and are available in The Mitchell Library, Glasgow.

Oh and the service record for Frances- he signs up in Belfast 1889 but the address for his sister (which I can't read) is also in Belfast- so perhaps all the family moved to Ireland?

Maybe worth keeping in mind

Thanks for the Census detail ( with its gender errors ) and the Perry’s Bankrupt Gazette detail is new to me.. pushes Dingeman's timeline a bit earlier into the U.K. ( his father had been trading, visiting the U.K. since the 1840's ) however what became of Frances Eliza Glen and the 3 children is still a mystery.

Having trouble with family of one particular individual.. Dingeman Martinus Lucardie, born 4th of Dec 1839 Rotterdam married Adriana Catharina Hoffmann, on the 23rd of October, 1873, in the Nederlands.
Prior to this however, with the Mother Frances Eliza Glen, possibly married, he is recorded as the father of;
possibly 1) Frances Eliza Glen. Born 27/11/1868, Tradeston,Glasgow,Lanark,Scotland, and,
2) Francis Lucardie. Born 17/11/1869, Tradeston,Glasgow
3) Sara Eliza Lucardie. Born 7/8/1871, Milton,Glasgow,Lanark
and I've read reports that refer to Dingeman in the v1871 Census however, have not been able to locate either the Census item or any record of the mother & children post these birth references. Dingeman is well documented in his life prior the this Lanark family, and post his marriage to Adriana in 1873.. just absent this period 1868 / 1873. If anyone can further define him, his family, in Scotland, would be appreciated.
