They probably got fed up with being 'bothered' :-D

Det

Just looked on their site and they do state a reply within 28 days, either way

Gins - they didn't find my friend's father's when he applied! The cheque was banked, and that was it. He knew that there had been a Will, but wanted to know the details. On a visit to the London Probate office, I had a look myself. Not finding an entry, that above explanation was given

He applied about 6 years ago, so may be they've changed their system since then.

John - in that case, there ought to be some sort of paper trail then.

Thanks to you both. I'm afraid his wife pre-deceased him by 12 years.

Det

They do tell you. I had a letter or a slip (can't remember now) come through the post a couple of years ago to say there wasn't a Will

If he was survived by a wife, or all the estate was left to her, there may not be an entry on the Probate Calender.

No harm in applying, but if they can't find anything they don't bother to tell you and you don't get a refund :-0

Could anybody check the Probate Index for Robert Stuart (Stewart) Greaves who died 24/12/2005 at Liuesty Hospital Flintshire? He lived at 2 The Ridgeway, Holywell until his accident. There was an inquest, the certificate for which was issued 15/6/2006.

If the Probate Index is only up to 1966, how can I discover the details?
